1912 – Titanic dress

First Worn: April 2012

I got the fabric when my friend Annie graciously took me around the LA fabric district and helped me pick things out. The black lace was a great find, ’cause it basically designed the dress for me.

I took the top of a strapless prom dress pattern I had on hand for who knows what, and added sleeves. You can see that look demonstrated really well in certain garments of the time.

The bottom is essentially a rectangle with some pleats in the back for sit-ability. Pretty much all the design work is the fabric itself!

I got to stick Doris in it for a tea at a historical house in Spring 2019, and that was great fun.
